Glass noodles not rice vermicelli
[edit]A mistake in this article: "glass noodles" are not a synonym for rice vermicelli because they're not made of rice; they're made of mung beans. Glass noodles are actually cellophane noodles. Badagnani 08:39, 26 December 2005 (UTC)
Long rice
[edit]Apparently rice vermicelli are called "long rice" in Hawaii, where they're mixed with chicken for luau food. I wonder, does this come from the English translation of the Cantonese 长米? Badagnani 08:15, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
Thai dish?
[edit]Is there a Thai dish made with rice vermicelli? We don't have Thailand listed in the regional dishes section. Badagnani 23:56, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Merger proposal
[edit]As someone mentioned earlier, the Rice noodles and Rice vermicelli articles contain much overlapping information, and the Rice vermicelli page claims that rice noodles are another name for rice vermicelli. -TinGrin 23:53, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- They're different, as one is an overarching category of noodles made from rice, while the other is only vermicelli (very thin). Badagnani (talk) 04:15, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- true, but seeing as the 2 articles contain mostly the same information, i still think it's a valid merge, or at least cleanup the 2 articles to reduce the redundant information, and clarify the difference. -TinGrin 19:27, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
- I'd prefer cleaning up, and oppose to a merge. They are really actually different things. --supernorton 08:05, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
- Oppose As stated above, rice noodles may take many forms, not just vermicelli. It's like the difference between pasta and spaghetti. Colonel Warden (talk) 12:29, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
- yes they are certainly very two different things, in many places they might be the same but in many asian countries vermicelli is quite different, often eaten sweet with milk --User:anon 09:59, 2 January 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.211.220.221 (talk)
- agree for merge. The first 2 lines of this article makes the case for merger: Rice vermicelli is a thin form of noodle. It is sometimes referred to as rice noodles J mareeswaran (talk) 22:15, 2 September 2022 (UTC)
- Changing my vote to oppose. This is because Thin rice noodles page redirects to Rice vermicelli. (Likewise Broad rice noodles redirects to Ho fun) So I have edited the Rice noodles page to make this clear J mareeswaran (talk) 23:21, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
